Rating: - Mediocre, at Best...
Like many other reviewers, I subscribed to this publication under the mistaken assumption the magazine would contain articles that would be worthwhile for the individual investor. Instead, I received a compendium of advertisements for outrageously priced, ostentatious items; articles seemed to be an afterthought. Further, it is often difficult to find the articles amid the advertising - it's like playing "Where's Waldo" with words.
Fortunately, I spent only $12 for the annual subscription ... Read More
Rating: - Great articles... Love it!
First things first, Portfolio is NOT an investing magazine. Go buy Kiplinger's or SmartMoney.
Portfolio IS a great magazine with in-depth articles, great charts/graphs/illustrations, and ALWAYS has something new and interesting to read. This magazine is never boring.
The articles discuss the influence of our world, economy, and culture on business; it's not the typical 'buy this stock' or 'stop spending so much' magazine. (If that's what you're looking for, Portfolio is not for ... Read More
Rating: - Who is the audience for this?
When I placed my order for a subscription to this magazine, I (mistakenly) was under the impression that it was an investing publication--go figure with the word 'portfolio' in its name. Wrong! This magazine is more about spending your fortune than it is about amassing one. I don't know about you, but I really have no problem deciding how to spend my money. Very disappointing. Maybe it is supposed to be a vanity magazine for the well-heeled. I consider it a waste of time and money. Thank goodness it was only ... Read More
Rating: - Refreshingly different
After cancelling my Forbes subscription (mostly due to the fact that I got utterly tired of their absurd right-wing slant), I am really glad I found this diamond in the rough. Yes, they are a young magazine with a few things that lack a bit of polish, but their mix of articles, features, and insights are much more balanced than your typical business magazine and make for a great read every time.
Rating: - What's this magazine about?
I subscribed thinking this magazine was about investing. Perhaps the title "Portfolio" deceived me? I've received 3 issues and it's safe to say that this magazine is terrible. In each issue there might be one article that I find interesting the rest are poorly written and there is little in the way of a common theme.
Oh hold on..."Portfolio" might refer to the magazine as a collection of diverse articles. Yes, yes that must be it.
I subscribe to other Conde Naste magazines (Gourmet and ... Read More
