The Control Products basic freeze alarm is a great value and easy to program. I tested it by placing it outside in December (I live in Minnesota) - but could have put it in the freezer, too. It takes almost an hour for the device to acclimate to the cold, so be patient. Once it got colder than the low temp setting I established, it called my cellphone. Not sure if it works because it's not cold enough.
However, I can tell you that just trying to set this simple system up was a real hassle.
The part where you plug the phone jack into fell out and was incredibly difficult to put back into place.
I literally had to call the company for help.
The rep. told me that the company usees recycled parts, which is terrific, but not if the parts do not conform or adapt to the new system.
