The heat is adequate in the horizontal position. You cant be barefoot on it though, it will be too hot. fuzzy slippers is OK.
Biggest con for me is that it squeaks when adjusting angle, kinda annoying

This product does not work well on hard floors. It is constantly sliding out from under my feet. The heater has never worked, unfortunately I bought it in the spring and did not try to use the heater until months later.
Rating: - Really Heats Your Feet
This footrest warms up pretty quickly. Even on the lower setting it is too warm for bare feet or even for stocking-feet. I actually wish I could turn it down lower so that I could use it with bare feet. But that is just another way of saying that it really puts out heat.
The "pro" is that this is much more economical than what the main competitor is offering. The "con" is that the cord is on the shorter side, which does not give you much flexibility. The manual warns against using ... Read More

I have only used the foot rest function so far, but it is terrific! SUPER warm at just the medium setting -- even through shoes but not too hot without shoes. The pivoting quality makes it comfortable to rest your feet on at different angles. Size is just right -- not too big.

I bought this unit to replace a worn out floor pad. I use it as a foot rest & warmer. Works just fine. Gets as warm as any foot warmer I have used. Seems to be durable. Has a power/mode switch on top with a power indicator light. I haven't had any problem with accidentally turning it off or on with my feet. It has self adjusting feet inside which adjust the tilt angle from the maximum to level. There are no funny smells when the plastic warms up.
